Using a solvent, the processor extracts the resin from the marijuana plant. The resin is then subjected to a purging process. For shredding, this process requires low heat and a longer suction time to extract the solvent from the resin. This results in the dry, powdery texture that forms the crumble.
Crumble is an extract, a form of cannabis concentrate that is produced with a solvent such as butane or CO2 in combination with heat and pressure. But unlike other concentrates, which are generally more viscous, this one is, as you guessed, dry and brittle. In fact, it's one of the driest extracts on the market. Crumbled wax is a cannabis concentrate that is obtained by soaking marijuana flowers in a solvent.
The solvent removes cannabinoids and terpenes from plant matter and keeps them in solution (an elegant term that means “in a dissolved state, like Kool-Aid”). Crumbled wax starts the same way as most concentrates. A solvent is passed through the buds or cuttings to extract the resin. From there, the THC-rich solution can be converted into hashish, bud or cannabis wax, depending on how the residual solvent is purged.
Crumbled wax is an herb extract made using a process similar to that of Shatter. To create either product, processors extract the cannabis resin from the plant with a solvent such as butane. During the purge stages, manufacturers apply heat and vacuum filtration to remove solvents. By filling the container with wax in the center, an effect similar to that of an oven is created, in which the wax evaporates thanks to the burning of the marijuana that surrounds it (for example, because the crumbled wax is easy to use and, depending on whether it has a high THC or CBD content, has a strong psychedelic or medicinal touch).
If the wax seems to crumble after a while, it's probably because it has dried and developed a texture similar to that of the crumbled concentrate. Unlike breakers, crumbled wax can be difficult to stick to a wand, an instrument used to apply wax to the nails of a rig. If you buy the crumbled wax at a dispensary, the package must include a label that indicates the exact THC content.
